The workshop, titled “Regular Soil Diagnosis and Evidence-Based Soil Health Management,” will convene county-level agricultural officers at the JKUAT Main Campus in Juja on 29–30 July 2026, with participation expected from 28–31 July.

Strengthening County Agricultural Capacity

The initiative aims to strengthen county capacity for landscape-level soil health monitoring by combining JKUAT’s laboratory expertise with practical field insights. The programme draws on evidence from JKUAT’s localised soil-fertility trials to support a sustainable transition toward agroecological and organic soil health practices.

According to the invitation, the training emphasises aligning local farming practices with sustainable resource use, prioritising key soil parameters, and integrating digital tools for data management and real-time agronomic support.

Strategic County Selection

Select counties, have been chosen based on their agricultural significance, investment potential, and fertiliser use dynamics. Each participating county will nominate two senior technical officers—one decision-maker involved in soil diagnostics (such as a County Director of Agriculture) and one technical officer actively engaged in soil health management and farmer outreach.
