Prime Minister Majaliwa Launches BBT Project 1 Funded by AfDB

The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa (MP), officially launched the BBT Project 1 on April 27, 2025, at the Jakaya Kikwete International Conference Center grounds in Dodoma. The project is funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The launch was attended by Hon. Hussein Bashe (MP), Minister for Agriculture; Hon. Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi (MP), Minister for Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports; Hon. David Silinde (MP), Deputy Minister for Agriculture; Mr. Gerald Mweli, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture; Hon. Rosemary Sitaki Senyamule, Regional Commissioner of Dodoma; Mr. Abdulmajid Nsekela, Chairman of the Commission for Trade and Development Cooperation (TCDC); Dr. Benson Ndiege, Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TCDC); Mr. Godfrey Ng’urah, Managing Director of the Cooperative Bank of Tanzania (CBT); Ms. Vianey Rweyendela, Chief Executive Officer of AGRA; and other government leaders and representatives from the private sector.
This initiative marks the first contribution from Development Partners (DPs) aimed at mobilizing financial resources to continue implementing the Youth and Women Empowerment Program, known as Build a Better Tomorrow (BBT) .
The BBT Project will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries over a five-year period, starting from 2025 to 2030. The total cost of the project is estimated at $129.71 million USD.
Through this transformative program, the government aims to empower young people and women by creating sustainable economic opportunities in agriculture and related sectors, fostering growth, and improving livelihoods across Tanzania.
