Tanzania Launches Sesame Buying Season for 2023/2024

The Ministry of Agriculture in Tanzania, through The Cereals and other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA), officially announced the opening of the 2023/2024 sesame buying season. The inaugural auction occurred on May 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Kanga warehouse in the Songwe District.
COPRA, in collaboration with the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX), the Warehouse Receipts Regulatory Board (WRRB), and the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC), as well as regional and district commissioners’ offices, invites all buyers to register for participation. Registration can be completed free through the COPRA website at https://www.copra.go.tz/ or directly via https://asds.kilimo.go.tz/login.
The sesame market significantly contributes to Tanzania’s agricultural sector, providing thousands of farmers nationwide income. This year’s launch is expected to bolster the economy and support local agriculture, aligning with COPRA’s slogan, “Nourish the Nation, Feed the World.”
