Strategic Significance for AGCOT

The invitation underscores AGCOT Centre’s positioning as a key institutional voice in Tanzania’s agriculture investment discourse. The Agricultural Growth Corridors of Tanzania (AGCOT) initiative, formerly the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT) initiative, is a public-private partnership established to advance sustainable agricultural transformation in Tanzania. The AGCOT Initiative operates around three overarching objectives. First, it seeks to enhance Tanzania’s food security and accelerate agricultural transformation and green growth through coordinated public and private sector investments. Secondly, it seeks to ensure that agricultural growth and investment are implemented in a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner. Thirdly, AGCOT seeks to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and rural communities by facilitating their integration into profitable agricultural value chains and expanding access to markets, finance, technology, and agricultural services.

AGCOT integrates four strategic corridors: the Central, Northern, Mtwara, and SAGCOT Corridors, covering all major agricultural zones of Tanzania.

Partners within the AGCOT Partnership include the Government of Tanzania, global agribusiness companies, the Tanzanian private sector, farmers, development partners, foundations, and donor institutions. Each AGCOT Partner commits to partnership principles of inclusive and green growth and contributes to the objectives of AGCOT within its respective mandate.

Mr Kirenga’s participation reflects AGCOT Centre’s mandate to facilitate investment flows into Tanzania’s agriculture sector whilst strengthening linkages between policy frameworks, research institutions, and private sector operators.

Africa Agri Expo Context

Africa Agri Expo, now in its Jubilee Edition, serves as a premier platform for agriculture investment, technology transfer, and trade facilitation across East Africa. The pre-event webinar series aims to spotlight country-specific opportunities and convene stakeholders ahead of the main exhibition.

The webinar format enables international investors, development partners, and regional agriculture actors to engage directly with Tanzania’s policy and technical leadership on sector priorities and entry points.
