Tanzanian President Galvanizes Stakeholders Towards Transformative Change at AGRF 2023 Summit
Mbeya, Tanzania – With just a few days remaining until the commencement of the AGFT 2023 Summit, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called for stakeholders to register and participate in the upcoming event.
The AGRF Summit, scheduled for September 5th to 8th, 2023, in Dar es Salaam, is a three-day gathering to foster discussions and collaborations on food systems across the African continent.
President Samia called while visiting the AGRF exhibition booth at the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition, which started on August 1st in Mbeya at the John Mwakangale Grounds.
During her interaction with citizens, President Samia highlighted the significance of Tanzania hosting this significant summit and emphasized the importance of adequate preparation.
“I urge Tanzanians and foreign companies operating in Tanzania to register and actively participate in this conference,” President Samia stated.
She further explained that the summit will bring together African nations and other global participants to deliberate on achieving food self-sufficiency and enhancing the food system within the African continent.
This summit comes as Tanzania continues its efforts to implement the 10/30 agenda, which seeks to increase the agricultural sector’s contribution to the national income.
“As part of this initiative, the government has introduced programs to involve youth and women in the agricultural sector, encompassing livestock farming, fishing, and crop cultivation through the BBT project (Building Better Tomorrow),” President Samia added.
The President was the Mbeya region to conclude the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition, a popular annual event celebrating farmers and their contributions. This year’s exhibition marks the second consecutive year of its occurrence.
