Minister Ulega Urges Joint Strategy to Prepare Youth for Livestock Business
The Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Hon. Abdallah Ulega, has urged the Board of Directors of the National Ranching Company (NARCO) and the Advisory Board of the Livestock Training Agency (LITA) to have a joint strategy to prepare youth to be entrepreneurs in the livestock sector through the flagship program BBT Livestock.
Minister Ulega gave these directives while inaugurating the Fourth Advisory Board of the Livestock Training Agency (LITA) and the Board of Directors of the National Ranching Company (NARCO) in an event held in Dar es Salaam on October 7, 2023.
“This should be our vision; when a youth is trained and completes their education at LITA, NARCO should have a procedure to allocate areas to these young individuals so that they can gain hands-on experience in modern livestock farming. We don’t want to train people just to struggle but to venture into the livestock business and its products,” said Minister Ulega.
Furthermore, he advised LITA to ensure they have a strategy to connect these youths with financial institutions to build their capacity and equip them with tactics for implementing business strategies and obtaining capital.
Similarly, he directed NARCO to ensure they lay down strategies to attract investors and ensure they are at the forefront of the meat business in the country.
