Advertising and Sponsored Content Policy

Kilimo Kwanza, published by AppsValle Limited, Kenya, accepts advertising and sponsorship to support independent agricultural journalism. This policy keeps paid material clearly separate from our reporting.

1. Labelling

• Paid placements are clearly labelled “Advertisement”, “Sponsored” or “Partner content”.
• Special supplements state who funded or supplied them.
• Sponsored and partner content is visually distinct from our news and features.

2. Editorial independence

• Advertisers and sponsors do not control, approve, review or change editorial coverage.
• Buying advertising or sponsorship does not buy, block or influence news coverage.
• Our editorial team may report on advertisers and sponsors in the same way as anyone else.

3. What we accept

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse, edit or remove any advertisement or sponsored content, at any time and without giving reasons. We do not accept advertising that:

• is false, misleading or makes claims that cannot be supported, including unrealistic promises of yields or returns;
• promotes illegal products or services, or products not registered or approved for sale where they are advertised, including seeds, agrochemicals, fertilisers and veterinary products;
• promotes unlicensed financial, investment or lending schemes;
• is defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, obscene or offensive;
• imitates our editorial content in a way that could confuse readers;
• infringes anyone’s intellectual property or other rights.

4. Advertiser responsibility

Advertisers and sponsors are solely responsible for the content of their advertisements and sponsored material, for the accuracy of their claims, and for complying with all applicable laws and regulations. Advertisers agree to indemnify AppsValle against any claim, loss or cost arising from their advertisement or sponsored material.

Publication of an advertisement or sponsored content does not mean that Kilimo Kwanza or AppsValle endorses the advertiser, its products, services or claims. Readers deal with advertisers at their own risk.
