Yara Tanzania Showcases Revolutionary Livestock Nutrition Solutions at Tri-Nations Expo
Ubena Zomozi, June 15, 2025 — As the sun rose over the bustling grounds of the Mbogo Ranch during the Tri-Nations Livestock Expo, livestock farmers, breeders, and agribusiness professionals gathered to witness the latest innovations transforming Africa’s livestock sector. One of the standout moments of the day came from the Yara Tanzania pavilion, where Agronomist Veronica Rusagilla passionately introduced a line of cutting-edge livestock nutrition products designed to elevate animal health, productivity, and profitability.
The Tri-Nations Livestock Expo, the largest of its kind in Tanzania, brought together top breeders and livestock players from Namibia, Kenya, and Tanzania in a powerful display of cross-border collaboration and agricultural innovation. It was here that Yara Tanzania—a company traditionally known for its expertise in crop nutrition—demonstrated its growing influence in the livestock sector.
From Crop to Cattle: Yara’s Expanding Legacy
“Yara is a company of nutrition,” began Rusagilla, addressing a captivated audience. “We specialize in plant nutrition and livestock nutrition. And today, we’re here to talk about how we’re feeding the future of livestock in Tanzania.”
Yara’s entry into Tanzania’s livestock sector may be just three years old, but globally, the company boasts over 50 years of experience in animal nutrition. This international expertise is now being localized and tailored for the needs of Tanzanian livestock farmers.
Targeted Solutions for Every Farmer
During the expo, Rusagilla unveiled a suite of livestock supplements and minerals that address the specific needs of both small-scale and commercial livestock keepers:
- Feed Grade Urea – Formulated to accelerate weight gain in cattle and goats, especially relevant in urban markets like Dar es Salaam where demand for quality meat is soaring.
- Maziwa Pro – A specialized product to increase both the quantity and quality of milk for dairy farmers.
- Kainoforce 21 – A versatile supplement suitable for a wide range of livestock including cattle, poultry, pigs, sheep, and goats. It is particularly beneficial for poultry farmers aiming to boost egg production and prevent undersized eggs.
- Kalori Elfu Tatu (3000 Calories) – A high-performance molasses product offering a cleaner, energy-dense alternative to traditional sugar by-products. In addition to energizing animals, it enhances appetite and can be used in feedlots and silage production.
Yara has also introduced Feed Grade Sulphur, Force Pro, and KemetraForce, all aimed at promoting growth, improving reproductive performance, and ensuring optimal animal health.
Feeding Potential, Fueling Growth
Rusagilla emphasized that the effectiveness of these products lies not only in their scientific formulation but also in their potential to unlock greater income and food security for livestock farmers across the country.
“Through better nutrition, farmers can achieve better yields—whether it’s more milk, faster weight gain, or higher egg production,” she said. “Our goal is to help farmers maximize the genetic potential of their animals and tap into the growing market demands across East Africa.”
A Shared Vision Under AGCOT
The presence of Yara Tanzania at the Tri-Nations Livestock Expo also aligned with the broader vision of the Agricultural Growth Corridors of Tanzania (AGCOT)—a newly transitioned national initiative evolved from SAGCOT. AGCOT aims to facilitate integrated agricultural transformation by enhancing access to inputs, markets, and innovation across the country’s entire agricultural landscape.
By contributing solutions that address the nutritional foundations of livestock farming, Yara is positioning itself as a key partner in Tanzania’s journey toward a modern, profitable, and inclusive livestock sector.
