Tanzanian Poultry Titan Elizabeth Swai to Mentor Africa’s Next Generation in Landmark Agribusiness Webinar

Dar es Salaam — June 15, 2025: Elizabeth Christopher Swai, the celebrated entrepreneur who built one of Tanzania’s most successful poultry empires from the ground up, is set to share her blueprint for success with Africa’s aspiring youth. On June 19, 2025, Swai will headline a pivotal webinar, “Youth in Agribusiness: Rising from Coop—Leadership, Innovation, and Trade Lessons from Tanzania’s Poultry Pioneer.”

The virtual event, a collaboration between the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), aims to directly address one of the continent’s most critical challenges: connecting its massive youth population, which constitutes over 70% of its people, with tangible economic opportunities.

As the founder and CEO of AKM Glitters Company Ltd., Swai has become a symbol of innovation and resilience in African agribusiness. Her journey, which saw her transform the poultry sector through an inclusive business model that empowers women and youth, was recently chronicled in the June/July 2024 issue of Forbes Africa. Now, she is turning her focus to mentorship, a tool she believes is vital for nurturing the next wave of agricultural leaders.

“While Africa is rich in potential, its youth are often locked out of the opportunities to drive real transformation,” a FANRPAN spokesperson stated. “This webinar series is designed to break down those barriers by providing direct access to mentors like Elizabeth Swai, whose real-world experience offers lessons that cannot be found in a textbook.”

The session is structured for deep engagement, moving beyond a simple lecture. Swai will deliver a keynote presentation on her journey, detailing the strategies, challenges, and moments of breakthrough that defined her career. This will be followed by a 60-minute moderated dialogue, giving young attendees an open floor to ask questions, seek advice, and interact directly with the business leader.

Further enriching the program, Mwaka Namukonda, Executive Coordinator of The Consortium of Africa Youth in Agriculture and Climate Change (CAYACC), will present a session on the practical tools, resources, and ecosystem opportunities available to young agripreneurs today.

This webinar is a must-attend for young farmers, agribusiness students, youth-led innovation hubs, and anyone invested in the future of African agriculture. It promises to equip participants with actionable insights, a deeper understanding of inclusive business models, and stronger network connections within a growing community of practice.

By spotlighting pioneers like Elizabeth Swai, the initiative seeks to do more than just inform; it aims to inspire a continent-wide movement, empowering young people to become the architects of a sustainable and prosperous agricultural future.
