Hon. Rosemary Senyamule,: Over Sh11 Billion Disbursed to Vulnerable Households in Dodoma Under TASAF
DODOMA
The Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) has disbursed over Sh11.1 billion to vulnerable households in Dodoma Region during the 2024/2025 financial year, marking significant progress in the national effort to reduce poverty and build economic resilience.
This was disclosed by Hon. Rosemary Senyamule, Regional Commissioner of Dodoma , while opening a mid-year review meeting on the implementation of the Productive Social Safety Net (PSSN) programme in the region.
“In partnership with key development agencies, the government continues to channel substantial resources through TASAF,” she stated. “Between July 2024 and April 2025, Dodoma Region received Sh11,123,585,402/- , covering cash transfers, administrative costs, and monitoring activities under the PSSN initiative.”
Senyamule further emphasized that efforts are underway to enhance the accuracy and transparency of beneficiary selection processes to ensure inclusiveness and fairness.
“We aim to see many current beneficiaries graduate from the programme by achieving economic self-reliance, thereby creating space for other vulnerable families in future cycles,” she added.
She urged local government authorities to prioritize entrepreneurship training and financial literacy support for beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability of the programme’s impact.
Joseph Pascal , Regional TASAF Coordinator, provided an update indicating that a total of 45,771 households have benefited from the programme in Dodoma so far.
“Of these, 26,275 households (57%) received payments in cash, while 19,474 (43%) were paid electronically via mobile money or bank transfers,” he explained.
He noted that the transition to e-payment systems is being accelerated to improve efficiency, transparency, and security in fund disbursement.
In addition, Pascal highlighted that all beneficiaries receive basic entrepreneurship training during each payment cycle, delivered by certified trainers.
“The goal is to empower families with practical business skills that enable them to launch income-generating activities, thereby improving their livelihoods beyond cash transfers,” he said.
The TASAF programme plays a central role in Tanzania’s social protection framework, targeting extremely poor and vulnerable households through conditional and unconditional cash transfers. Beneficiaries are also linked to essential services such as health and education, and increasingly supported to transition into sustainable livelihoods.
The continued success of the programme in Dodoma underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and poverty reduction—particularly in rural areas where access to economic opportunities remains limited.
As investment in social safety nets grows, local leaders are being called upon to ensure strong governance, promote financial inclusion, and monitor long-term impacts on household welfare.
