At the 12th AGRF SUMMIT’s Agribusiness Dealroom, Tanzania Investment Centre presented tremendous opportunities in sunflower (edible oil), dairy, horticulture and aquaculture sub-sectors. The myriad opportunities under Tanzania Agro-industries Development Flagship (TAIDF) also came under the spotlight.

Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr Ashatu Kijaji described one of the critical benefits of AGRF as the opportunity for the government and the private sector to meet with investors via the deal room. Participants included TIC, SAGCOT, TAHA  and ANSAF, among others.

She said that Tanzania was able to showcase available investment opportunities in the agriculture sector, including agro industrialization. Some investors showed interest in investing in Tanzania’s agriculture sector through the Deal Room, especially in edible oil processing. She assured those who have come forward the ministry would continue coordinating the investments to take agro industrialization to the next level.

Hon Bashe and Hon Dr   Kijaji participated in the launch of the Regional Food Balance Sheet initiative. This initiative will help the region to inform policy and business decisions on food security, agricultural trade, and investment.

The Minister of Agriculture told the Summit Tanzania was making efforts to boost wheat and maize productivity via climate-smart seed technologies, fertilizers and capacity building, same for all major crop value chains.
