Dar es Salaam RC Urges Citizens to Actively Participate in 49th Sabasaba International Trade Fair

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has called on residents to move beyond merely praising the 49th Sabasaba International Trade Fair and instead seize the opportunity to actively participate in the exhibition to help grow the national economy.

Speaking today, June 26, 2025, during a capacity-building seminar for exhibitors in Dar es Salaam, Chalamila emphasized that the trade fair is a critical platform that holds pride of place for the nation.

“This year’s exhibition should stand apart from previous years. Exhibitors must showcase their products using modern technology and digital platforms,” he urged.

Chalamila highlighted that the Sabasaba exhibition also serves as a vital symbol of economic diplomacy with other nations, in line with the Foreign Policy of 2001, updated in the 2024 Edition, launched by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He noted that this year’s exhibition has attracted over 3,000 participants from both local and international companies, along with various stakeholders. According to Chalamila, the participation of youth is especially significant, as it integrates them directly into value chains and exposes them to new business opportunities.

Key Institutional Remarks

On her part, the Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), Latifa Khamis, underlined the importance of the seminar in equipping exhibitors with essential skills and knowledge.

“It’s crucial for participants to understand various trade regulations and to build their technical capacity for the benefit of their businesses,” Latifa said.

She pointed out that this year’s Sabasaba fair introduces enhanced digital systems. Unlike in the past, exhibitors are now booking exhibition spaces online, eliminating the need to physically visit the offices. Additionally, visitors can now purchase entry tickets through multiple online platforms, making the process more accessible.

Latifa further noted that the Sabasaba exhibitions continue to evolve each year, with ongoing improvements aimed at creating a better experience for both exhibitors and attendees.

The 49th Sabasaba International Trade Fair is scheduled to officially begin on June 28 and conclude on July 13, 2025.
