Dodoma, Tanzania — The Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA), under the Ministry of Agriculture, has announced a new export opportunity aimed at strengthening Tanzania’s presence in high-value European organic markets.
In an official call to Tanzanian exporters, COPRA has invited certified organic producers and exporters to express interest in a verified sourcing partnership with a reputable European buyer seeking to expand long-term sourcing relationships in Tanzania.
Reputable European Buyer Identified
According to the announcement, the opportunity is linked to Nungesser AG, a Switzerland-based European sourcing, advisory, and trading company specializing in organic and sustainable agricultural commodities. The company, headquartered in Rotkreuz, is known for building structured, traceable, and long-term supply chains with producers in origin countries.
Products in Demand
The sourcing opportunity focuses strictly on certified organic products, with priority given to:
- Organic sesame
- Organic chia
- Organic pulses, including chickpeas, kidney beans, and white beans
Exporters are expected to demonstrate compliance with recognized organic certification standards such as EU, USDA, or equivalent schemes.
Emphasis on Quality and Long-Term Partnerships
COPRA emphasized that the opportunity is not for spot trading, but rather for exporters capable of sustaining consistent quality, reliable volumes, and long-term commercial relationships. Export experience is considered an added advantage, and shortlisted suppliers may benefit from direct buyer visits to Tanzania for farm and facility assessments.
Strengthening Tanzania–Europe Market Linkages
The initiative aligns with COPRA’s broader mandate to:
- Promote agricultural exports
- Strengthen international market linkages
- Improve compliance and standards across agricultural value chains
By acting as a coordinator, COPRA will screen submissions, shortlist qualified exporters, and facilitate official introductions and follow-up engagement with the European buyer.
How to Express Interest
Interested exporters are required to submit key information to COPRA, including:
- Organization profile
- Organic crops available and estimated volumes
- Organic certification details
- Export experience, where applicable
Call to Action
COPRA has encouraged eligible Tanzanian exporters, cooperatives, aggregators, and processors to take advantage of the opportunity, describing it as a strategic gateway into premium European organic markets with strong growth potential.
