BBT Ndogowe Farm Impresses Vice President Dr. Mpango
Dodoma, Tanzania – August 22, 2024
The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango, laid the foundation stone for the construction of various infrastructure projects under the Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) program at the Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan – Mlazo/Ndogowe irrigation scheme during his visit to Dodoma on August 22, 2024.
While laying the foundation stone, Dr. Mpango stated, “The decision by Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to invest in irrigation farming is a liberation for farmers. With this approach, hunger will no longer be an issue.” He added that this initiative is revolutionary for the agriculture sector and that the investment will transform the lives of young people and women through the BBT program.
Additionally, the Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Hon. Rosemary Senyamule, while welcoming Vice President Dr. Mpango, announced that the people of Dodoma, including those from Mpwayungu division, have bestowed upon him a new name, “Mdimi,” meaning shepherd of the people (or flock, as written in the Bible) or in another sense, a shepherd of livestock.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. David Silinde (MP), also remarked that the vision and direction of the agriculture sector stem from the exemplary leadership of the Sixth Phase Government under the guidance of Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. He emphasized that the Ministry and its officials will continue to implement this vision so that farmers can continue to benefit and produce abundant and profitable crops.
