As leaders and delegates gather for the 28th session of the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28 UAE), AGRA president Dr Agnes Kalibata has emphasized the crucial need for nations to find common ground.

Dr Kalibata took to Twitter, stating, “we must find common ground; we can’t keep kicking the can down the road. With so many ministers and power present, we have an opportunity to reimagine our world. We can deliver hope together.”

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber during the inauguration of the Pre-COP in Abu Dhabi highlighting the imperative to act, he urged the attendees to “decarbonize our economies and triple renewable energy.”

He accentuated the dire need for international unity on climate issues. “Now more than ever, we need to unite on climate and deliver a clear message of hope, solidarity, stability, and prosperity,” he declared.

The official conference, to be held between November 30 and December 12, 2023, at Expo City Dubai, has a significant task ahead. It aims to signal the commencement of a concentrated 7-year effort to cut global emissions by an ambitious 43% by the end of 2030.

This year’s conference holds a spotlight as leaders from across the globe seek tangible actions, reflecting the urgency and responsibility of the current climate crisis. With COP28 UAE setting the stage, it’s a pivotal moment for countries to demonstrate their commitment to a sustainable future.
