Ministers and Energy Leaders to Convene at AOW: Investing in African Energy 2024

Cape Town, South Africa October 4, 2024 – Africa’s leading oil, gas, and energy event, AOW: Investing in African Energy, is set to bring together over 80 government ministers and senior officials from across the continent, along with more than 1,600 high-level delegates and industry leaders. Scheduled to take place from October 7-10, 2024, at the CTICC 2 in Cape Town, the event will be a critical platform for developing policies, sharing discoveries, securing investments, and shaping Africa’s energy future.

The conference will commence with an invitation-only ministerial symposium themed “Fostering Innovation, Attracting Investment, and Promoting Sustainable Growth in the Oil, Gas, and Energy Sectors”, setting the stage for thought-provoking discussions and strategy formulation.

Energy leaders from countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Namibia, Cote d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, and several others will be present. They will be joined by high-level delegations from national oil companies, as well as regional and multilateral bodies such as the African Union (AU), African Energy Commission (AFREC), African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), and the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).

Over the four-day event, participants will engage in daily networking sessions, discuss insights, and negotiate critical energy deals. The focus will be on sustainable upstream development, expanding gas value chains, renewables, adoption of best-in-class technologies, and access to finance.

Paul Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer of Sankofa Events, the organization behind the AOW, expressed excitement over the caliber of delegates confirmed for this year’s event. “Given the recent major oil-and-gas discoveries across Africa, the energy transition, and major geopolitical events, it is clear that the energy sector needs positive intervention. The high-powered attendance proves AOW is a key platform to enable this intervention,” Sinclair stated.

The event will conclude with a special anniversary celebration at the renowned Groot Constantia Vineyard to commemorate 30 years of AOW’s influence in Africa’s energy sector.
